About

The Glenwood Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services (EMS) to the community in a cost-efficient operation.  The Department's personnel include three full-time and twenty-eight Part Time Paid-On-Call (P.O.C.) Firefighters.  The P.O.C. Firefighters carry voice pagers and receive text notification on their cell phones, alerting them to respond when needed.

The Village has two fire stations.  Station 20 is located at 605 E. Glenwood-Lansing Road and Station 21 is located 534 N. Roberts Drive, near the intersection of Halsted and 183rd Street.  The Fire Department has one fire truck with a 109' aerial ladder,  2 fire engines, 1 rescue squad and 2 ALS Ambulances along with various other support vehicles.  The Village has mutual aid agreements with the many of our neighboring municipalities in the event that additional recourses are needed .  In the event that additional resources are needed, our municipal partners will dispatch fire engines, trucks, and ambulances to assist with department operations.

Ambulance service is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  The Glenwood Fire Department maintains on a 24/7 basis two dedicated fully equipped ALS ambulances, split between 2 stations.  Each ambulance is staffed with licensed paramedics and emergency medical technicians.  IF A MEDICAL EMERGENCY CALL IS RECEIVED AT THE 9-1-1 DISPATCH CENTER, ONE OF OUR GFD AMBULANCES WILL BE DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE.

The Fire Department is also responsible for a variety of fire prevention and safety programs.  Many of our Firefighters are certified child car safety seat technicians and are available during regular business hours to evaluate and demonstrate the correct installation of child safety seats in a vehicle.
