GARBAGE AND YARD WASTE CART RENTAL
In order to create a flexible program that meets the needs of all the Village's residents, any additional services you may require, including yard waste cart rental or garbage cart rental will be billed directly to you by Homewood Disposal. This bill is paid directly to them.
GARBAGE PICKUP FEE
The garbage pickup fee is included on your bi-monthly water bill. This can be paid by mail or in person at the Village hall during normal business hours. Outside normal business hours, you may leave your payment in the lock box located at the curbside dropbox near the main entrance of Village Hall.
COLLECTION
Your refuse will be picked up every Tuesday. All refuse must be at the curb by 6:30 a.m. and no sooner than 5:00 p.m. on the day before usual and customary scheduled garbage pick-up days. HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE
Homewood Disposal will NOT take hazardous materials such as automotive batteries, explosives or volatile wastes, flammables, unhardened paint, paint thinners and varnishes, acids, pesticides, used motor oil, or any other toxic or hazardous material. The IEPA periodically holds hazardous waste disposal days to take these kinds of materials. Please see the EPA website for more information.
MEDICAL WASTE
Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) are a growing concern in the recycling/disposal community. It has been found that pharmaceuticals are surviving water treatment facilities and making their way into drinking water. The EPA has asked people to stop flushing unwanted medications down the drain. The Village of Glenwood is part of the Cook County Sheriff's Office Prescription Drug Take Back Program. Unused or expired prescription medication can be brought to Village Hall and disposed of in the drop box. Check Village Hall hours for drop off times. WHITE GOODS (REFRIGERATORS, ETC)
There will be no additional charge for these items; however, for safety reasons please remove all doors before placement at the curb. Limited to one item per week.
