Yard Waste

Yard waste season is April 1st-November 30th. Yard waste should be placed in brown paper yard waste bags with a yard waste sticker attached to each bag (unless the date falls during the "Branch Pick-Up Program" or "Leaf Pick-Up Program" specified below).

Yard waste pickup is conducted on the same day as garbage pickup, Tuesday.


Yard waste stickers can be purchased in Glenwood for $3.15 each at the following locations:
- Glenwood Village Hall, One Asselborn Way, Glenwood, IL 60425
- Glenwood Amstar, 18659 Halsted Street Glenwood, IL 60425

Any home that needs yard waste picked-up after November 30th will need to call Homewood Disposal at 708-798-1004 before bags are placed at curb

 

Below are two yearly yard waste services provided to the residents of Glenwood only. If you have any questions, please call the Village Hall at 708-753-2400. The Branch Pick-Up Program and Leaf Pick-Up Program are free of charge to residents in Glenwood.

 

BRANCH PICK-UP PROGRAM 

 

The Village of Glenwood provides a Branch Pick up Program that runs APRIL through OCTOBER, the first and second Mondays of each month. The schedule is as follows: 

- Pick up for residents EAST of the rail road tracks will be the 1st MONDAY of each month.
- Pick up for residents WEST of the railroad tracks will be the 2nd MONDAY of each month.
- Should your pick up day fall on a MAJOR Holiday, your branches will be picked up on Tuesday. 
  Please call the Village Hall if you have any questions regarding major holidays 

The following guidelines must be followed in order to have your branches picked up: 

- Branches must be no larger than 5 inches in diameter.
- Branches must be less than 8 feet in length.
- Branches must be stacked neatly with ALL trunks facing to the street.
- Branches must be on the parkway NO earlier than the Sunday before your scheduled pick up day
    (Violators will be subject to a citation), but must be curbside by 6:30 a.m. on your pick up day.
- Brush in bags or containers will not be picked up.
- Branches that do not follow the guidelines will not be picked up.
- Public Works will make ONE PASS ONLY down each street.
- NO EVERGREEN or PINE BRANCHES/BUSHES!
- NO WEEDS…..BRANCHES ONLY!
- THIS IS NOT FOR TREE REMOVAL PICK-UP. IT IS FOR BASIC BRANCH TRIMMING.
- YARDWASTE STICKERS NOT REQUIRED FOR VILLAGE PROGRAM.

LEAF PICK-UP PROGRAM 

The Village of Glenwood provides a Leaf Pick-Up Program that runs every Tuesday in November. 

 

LEAF BAGS WILL ONLY BE PICKED UP IF THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES ARE MET: 

  • LEAVES MUST BE IN BROWN YARD WASTE/LANDSCAPE BAGS.

  • LEAF BAGS ONLY DO NOT NEED A HOMEWOOD DISPOSAL YARD WASTE STICKER.

  • BAGS MUST BE CURBSIDE BY 6:00 A.M.

  • ALL OTHER YARD WASTE BAGS (GRASS, TWIGS, ETC…) MUST HAVE A HOMEWOOD DISPOSAL YARD WASTE STICKER AFFIXED TO THE BAG.
